Essential Amino Acids
An essential amino acid is an amino acid that cannot be synthesized by the body and therefore must be supplied in the diet. Nine amino acids are generally regarded as essential for humans. They are: iso-leucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, histidine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.
