LDL
Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) form a class of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol and triglyerides from the body's tissues to the liver. LDL can transport cholesterol to the arteries, where it can be retained by proteoglycans causing artereol plaques (atherosclerosis), leading to heart disease. This is why LDL is often referred to as bad cholesterol.
